One of the best things about Destin is the variety of dining and cuisine. The proximity to the Gulf means seafood is local and fresh. Boshamps Seafood and Oyster House serve up locally sourced, Southern-style seafood with ocean views. Marina Cafe is known for its eclectic menu, which includes sushi, surf 'n' turf, and pizza. It's a stylish, hip cafe with outdoor seating and water views. If you want to shop til you drop, there are a variety of well-known stores and local boutiques to explore throughout Destin. Destin Commons is an open-air shopping center with a full range of retailers and casual dining, so it's easy to spend the day here. At HarborWalk Village, you'll find entertainment and dining, but the shopping includes jewelry stores, clothing stores, surf shops, and more.

Things to Do

Where to start is perhaps the biggest question when it comes to how to spend your day in Destin. Go fishing on your own, or charter a fishing vessel with friends. There are 12 beach access points, where you can hit the pristine beach to enjoy everything from strolling the soft white sands to numerous water sports.

If golf is your game, you'll want to check out some of the excellent golf courses in the area. There's the Regatta Bay Golf and Yacht Club and the Indian Bayou Golf and Country Club to get you started, with many other picturesque courses to explore.

Destin has a variety of festivals and events throughout the year, but its unique relationship with the Gulf of Mexico is featured in the month-long Destin Fishing Rodeo every October that kicks off with the Destin Seafood Festival. If you are interested in a winter adrenaline rush, the New Year's Day Pelican Plunge is a blast.
